|Bulova Accutron Spaceview Watches are a type of wristwatch produced by the manufacturer Bulova.
Brief history and description
Bulova was a jewellery manufacturer that was founded in 1875 by Joseph Bulova, a Bohemian immigrant who was living in New York. Bulova later opened up a watch-making plant in Switzerland in 1912, and by 1923 his plant became known for their pocket watches and desk clocks.
But Buvola's most famous invention would be none other than the Accutron watch, which was introduced in 1960 as the world's first electronic watch. The watch featured a tuning fork which was powered by a one-transistor electronic circuit, and earlier versions of the watch had an opaque dial as. In 1961, Bulova then introduced the Spaceview Accutron, followed by a Spaceview watch with a stainless-steel case in 1962.
Guide for collectors
Gold Bulova Accutron Spaceview wristwatches, watches with a gold-plated case, or watches that are sold with their original boxes are considered to be the most rare and valuable. Waterproof Bulova Accutron Spaceview watches are also considered to be rare, but not necessarily the most valuable.
Restoration of a Bulova Accutron Spaceview watch is recommended, but only if there is noticeable damage. However, restoring a Bulova Accutron Spaceview watch may decrease its value.
