Sothebys New York American Art auction held on the 17th of May wowed with results of $34,787,625, after a high total estimate of $28.4 million. Six of the 59 lots fetched over a million dollars each.

Michael Jackson’s rhinestone glove is the glove worn by the singer the first time he performed the Moonwalk.
DescriptionMichael Jackson wore the rhinestone-encrusted glove during a television performance of Billie Jean at the 1983 Motown 25 television special.1 The left-handed glove, itself unusual as most gloves worn by Jackson were right-handed, is made using cream leather and is a standard golf glove containing the label “Made In Korea.” It has a Velcro flap on the back. The glove features strips of Swarovski crystals, hand cut to the shape of the glove. These strips are whip stitched to the back of the glove. Sale
The glove was put up for auction by Walter "Clyde" Orange, one of the founding members of the Commodores. Following the 1983 Motown 25 television special, Jackson had given Orange the glove in lieu of an autograph - part of a long-running joke between the two.2 The glove was sold for $350,000 in August 2009 at Julien’s Auctions in the US, far above the estimated price of $30,000. The glove was bought by Hong Kong businessman Hoffman Ma who was acting on behalf of a hotel in Macau, China, where it is now on display.3 Auctioneer Darren Julien said following the auction that the 1983 television appearance had been Jackson’s "most historical performance" and that the glove was "the Holy Grail of Michael Jackson", adding that prices for Michael Jackson memorabilia now outperform those of Marilyn Monroe or Elvis Presley.
