PSA/DNA (Professional Sports Authenticator) is the world's leading third-party authentication service for autographs and memorabilia.

Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA)

Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) is the largest third-party grading and authentication company in the world. It was founded in 1991.

Used by collectors, dealers and auction houses worldwide, PSA has processed over 16 million cards and collectibles with a cumulative declared value of nearly a billion dollars.

History

PSA/DNA was founded by PSA in 1998 in response to widespread counterfeiting, forgery and piracy of autographed collectibles.

Authentication methods

According to its website, PSA combines state-of-the-art, proprietary methods and the hobby's most knowledgeable grading experts “to render carefully considered, unbiased third-party opinions of grade.”

President - Joe Orlando

Orlando has been an advanced collector of sports cards and memorabilia for over 25 years. Orlando attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California where he studied communications and was the starting catcher for the baseball team.

After a brief stint in the minor leagues, Orlando obtained a Juris Doctor from Whittier Law School in Southern California in the spring of 1999.

During the last eleven years, Orlando has authored several collecting guides and dozens of articles for Collectors Universe, Inc. Orlando has also authored two books for Collectors Universe.

PSA Collectors Club

Members can submit collectibles directly and receive free gradings.

PSA Guarantee

The PSA Financial Guarantee of Grade & Authenticity is fundamental to PSA's concept of third-party grading. The cash-back policy ensures the accuracy of the grade assigned to any PSA-graded card as long as the card remains in its tamper-evident holder.

PSA guarantees that all cards submitted to it shall be graded in accordance with PSA grading standards and under the procedures of PSA.
