Winchester produced the original 1400 from 1964 until 1968.

The Mk II was produced from 1968 until 1972, featuring a redesigned action release and a new checkered pattern.

Winchester decided to drop the “Mk II” name from 1972 and continued selling the shotgun until the line was discontinued in 1994.
